Business R&D Senior Professional

The opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Business R&D Senior Professional to drive innovation and strategic growth within Hitachi, Ltd. This role involves leading research and development initiatives, identifying emerging business opportunities, and translating technical advancements into commercially viable solutions.

How you'll make an impact

• Lead and manage complex R&D projects from conception through to implementation, ensuring alignment with Hitachi's strategic objectives and market demands.
• Conduct in-depth market research and competitive analysis to identify new business opportunities, technological trends, and potential disruption areas.
• Develop and refine business cases for new products, services, and technologies, including financial projections, risk assessments, and go-to-market strategies.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, product management, sales, and marketing teams to ensure seamless integration of R&D outputs into existing business lines and new ventures.
• Foster a culture of innovation, experimentation, and continuous improvement within the R&D team and across the broader organization.
• Present findings, recommendations, and project progress to senior management and key stakeholders.
• Identify and evaluate potential partnerships, acquisitions, or collaborations to accelerate R&D efforts and expand market reach.
• Stay abreast of the latest advancements in relevant technologies and industry best practices.
• Mentor and guide junior R&D professionals, fostering their growth and development.

Your background

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering or a related technical field. A Ph.D. is a plus.
• Experience in R&D, product and process development.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving skills, as well as critical and scientific thinking skills.
• Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical and business concepts to diverse audiences.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams and influence stakeholders at all levels.
• Experience in board or paper manufacturing, and in laminate manufacturing, is highly desirable.
• Proficiency in project management tools and methodologies.
